We dunnit! We had a unanimous vote from the Board, proxies and the present community members showing full support for our food drive to be conducted next month. As I stated in the meeting, Miki Asejo and friends have served over 5,000 meals here at the community center over the last 2 years at no cost to the public, and now it is time to say thank you.
The Cans and Coins food drive collection center will be at the community center from August 1 through August 30. We will have a barrel to drop your coins into and a place for all of your food donations. Below is a partial list of what we need for our Aloha lunches.
rice FROM the GARDEN
peanut butter banana avocado
jelly papaya pineapple
noodles: spaghetti/elbow or other potatoes pipinola
spaghetti sauce taro etc.
fresh or canned fruits starfruit
sugar ulu
small bags of chips
bread
For special donations such as meats and fresh foods, please call Puka John at 808.464.1482 or deliver on Saturday mornings. Be sure to get your raffle ticket each time you donate. We will have some very nice local craft gifts to give away. We are still looking for prize sponsors, so please give me a call. Our goals are: 200 lbs. of food and 200.00 in cash. Mahalo
