Spontaneous Celebration

Aloha to Aniel Love. She is the first co-author to join the Punaverse Blog Ohana and we are all looking forward to her great stories about our beautiful Punaverse. Mahalo

Spontaneous Celebration – May 27, 2011

Aniel’s side of the story…

In our Punaverse there can be a propensity for spontaneous celebration. There really is no planning: it just happens as in ‘stuff’ happens.  It seems this occurs with much more vivaciousness and regularity in our neck of the jungle.

This past week I got caught, gratefully, in a spontaneous celebration.  It all started out innocently enough with a few friends sharing one vehicle to do chores and run errands.  2 other Punatics and I piled into my truck and we set out for parts known and, as it turned out, parts unknown.

We did our obligatory chores and running around and toward the end of the tour the sun was still high in the sky, so we decided to go to Warm Pond for a soak. We stopped and picked up some food and a few libations just in case a celebration broke out.

And it did.

John and I are old hands of the spontaneous celebration gig, Puna style.  After you have done it so many times, you can kind of feel it coming on from a long way off.

We had a newcomer on board, Jeff, who had no experience of our particular style.  Although we all knew each other, this was the first time he had graced us with his presence in this capacity.  His flow was outstanding.

Jeff
We got to warm pond and John sniffed out a location that was far from the main pond and crowd.

He has a great nose for targeting prime spots in which one can plant their bottom for a delightful span of time.  This spot was, indeed, one of his finer selections.  The view was fantastic and we had our own personal warm pond equipped with privacy galore.

With this kind of setup and preparation, it would have been an abomination NOT to have a celebration.

The entire time was a severe hoot and can only be faintly captured in digital representation.

There were moments of…

Jeff enjoying the abundance...

male bonding...

too much male bonding?
...not that there is anything wrong with that...

beer bonding...

poke, beer, chips, meaningful conversation...

singular contemplation...

sheer happiness...

humor and warm understanding and...

silent gratitude for being alive in this place at this time with these people and Jeff's puna dirt toes at the bottom right of this photo.

I couldn’t have had this splendid romp without the presence of these 2 beautiful and delightful men. Their Beingness was really something to behold.  Thank you Jeff.  Thank you John.

And a profound appreciation for Hawaii and of the place She has created for all of us to thrive and just BE.

Although this particular celebration included beer and other libations, Spontaneous Celebrations do not always include these favors.  I have had celebrations that included taking trips to Hilo and splurging on a decadent chocolate pastry from a wonderful shop on Furneaux or getting the best french fries ever from a place next to the Hilo market...yumyum for the tumtum.  Another Spontaneous Celebration  potential is deciding to get in the car and just go somewhere that you have never visited.  There are so, so many places on our exquisite Hawaii to discover.  Go with it...

June 21, 2011
This is the Summer Solstice. The first Day of Summer.

It has been a very wet spring.

What a wonder, waking up to the bright sunrise and not a cloud in the sky. It was like I woke up to a beautiful blank page in my book in progress...time to write a new chapter. Whoopie. I had plans to go to Hilo on business and errands today, but those plans fell through. Something or someone is telling me to do something different than planned. So I am packing my camera and goodies and headin' out into the world. It's time for another spontaneous celebration. Kahena sounds good. I'll see you on the flip side.
